Indian River County Sector 3 Beach Restoration

Client: Indian River County, FL.

The “Indian River County Beach Preservation Plan Update” recommends nourishment of the County’s critically eroded beaches including Sector 3 on the barrier island. Previous Coastal Tech work included those tasks necessary to advance and complete the project area fill design, to obtain permits from Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) for the project, as well as assist County staff with construction phase observation services and post-construction physical and biological monitoring required by the permits, in collaboration with County staff with periodic updates to the County’s Beach and Shore Preservation Advisory Committee.  The Contractor completed Phase 1 and the first part of Phase 2 of the project in May 2010 and April 2011 respectively. Construction of the second part of Phase 2, the final phase of the project, began in January 2012 and is anticipated to be completed in February 2012.
